Who Is It For?

SkinPen Microneedling is safe for all skin types. Not only can it be used on the face, neck and chest, it can also be used to decrease the appearance of stretch marks anywhere on the body.

How Does It Work?

The fantastic thing about our bodies is that they have natural processes that react to injury by producing new cells and extracellular materials (like elastin and collagen) to heal. The SkinPen® initiates this natural process with a finely-tuned microneedling pen by creating hundreds of temporary micro-sized openings in your skin. These small openings are created with the SkinPen®’s disposable needle cartridge, which achieves results without thermal energy or chemicals applied to the skin.

Does It Hurt?

At Radiant Complexions we apply a topical numbing cream 20 minutes prior to your treatment time so there is very minimal discomfort. You might notice a mild sunburn-like sensation soon after the procedure that can last for one to two days.

While multiple sessions are typically recommended to achieve optimal results depending on your specific goals, noticeable changes can be seen just one week after treatment and gradually improve as the body’s healing process begins to take effect. Side effects are similar to a mild sunburn, such as redness, tenderness, light peeling and some swelling.

Microneedling + PRP

Combining platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with microneedling allows us to take this treatment one step further. PRP is an advanced technique which utilizes the body’s own blood cells to actually boost the production of collagen, thus enhancing efficacy and the overall success of the treatment. Microneedling with PRP can significantly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin tone, and help with the treatment of acne scars, surgical scars, and even stretch marks.

Also known as the “Vampire Facial”, microneedling with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) uses a patient’s own blood to rejuvenate the skin. The procedure starts by drawing a patient’s blood. The tube containing the blood is then placed in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelet rich plasma.

The platelet rich plasma is rich in growth factors and other proteins that can then be used to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Growth factors that are derived from other sources are a potent and desirable ingredient in some high-end skin care products.

If you decide to combine PRP with your microneedling treatment, it will be applied topically during and after your session.
